Description:
Having successfully defended Eagle's Nest One from the
so-called overwhelming Soviet strike force that chased
General Collins out, Lieutenant Gumbolt has sent you
and the platoon to counterattack at Outpost Three. You
must destroy the CCA Recycler, Factory, and Launch Pad.
We also think the Russians have a unit called a Supply
Launch Facility, or Armoury, that can build powerups
and lob them long distances to rearm or repair their
tanks. It looks somewhat like a fat Flanker. If you
see such a thing, destroy it. Thanks to Arkin, our
troops on Mars will soon have their own Armouries.
Tips:
Deploy your turret exactly 159 metres from the closest
enemy gun tower. Any closer and the gun tower shoots
you, farther and you probably won't damage the enemy unit.
Ammo is in short supply,
so don't blow up stuff like
cafeterias and barracks unnecessarilly. Also, the more
turrets firing on an enemy production unit at once, the
less chance the unit has to repair itself.
Take out the pair of gun
towers just north or just south
of the launch pad, then the launch pad itself.
Deploying your turrets just
outside the enemy base until
the CCA runs out of scavengers, scrap, and tanks might
possibly make taking the base less difficult.
Oh yeah, and don't die.
That makes it harder to complete
the mission.
In Case You Wondered
-------------------------
If you wondered how I did the launch pad objective and the
WAV's, off the map to the southeast there is a steep
crater containing a CCA Constructor and a custom turret.
You must destroy all CCA production units to win. The
turret is ordered to follow the launch pad, but can't climb
the steep edge of the crater. When you destroy the launch
pad, the turret deploys, plays its custom WAV saying you
scrapped the launch pad (instead of 'Turret Deployed'), and
blows up the CCA Constructor for you, which is the last
enemy production unit unless the enemy Recycler, SLF, or MUF
is still around, in which case you win when you destroy
that.
Right next to that crater,
there is another, also off the
map, containing a bunch more custom turrets, ordered to
follow the enemy Recycler, enemy Gun Tower, and AT-Stabber.
If one of these units gets destroyed (or the AT-Stabber
gets put on your tank), the turret following it deploys,
and instead of 'Turret Deployed' you hear the appropriate
custom WAV. Unlike the turret with the Constructor, these
turrets don't shoot anything.
Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin exit Battlezone if it is running.
1) All the files in the
zip file need to be extracted into
your BattleZone\addon directory (folder).
2) This map includes some
custom ODF files. As long as you do
not modify them, you can use them with the same name in other
maps.
3) To run a single player
map type the following in a DOS
prompt from your Battlezone folder: bzone outpost3.bzn
